We are fundamentalists. Webster's Dictionary defines this as, "orthodox
religious beliefs based on a literal interpretation of the Bible and regarded as fundamental to Christian faith."
The word fundamental means, "forming a foundation or basis; basic; essential- a principal, law, etc., serving as a basic essential part."
We believe God's Word to be literally true. That's the basis, fundamental, essential element to Christian faith. As we see it, how can you believe in Jesus, without having faith in His word?
Today, with all of the proofs that God has given us that the Bible is His Word, that it is truth, that it is correct, and that it can be trusted...
Think about it for a minute: we have volumes of archeological evidence proving now that what the Bible has recorded regarding history is correct, even though for many years some historians doubted the truth of God's Word.
In science the theory of evolution, once held to be
"sacred"has failed miserably to prove
itself, while at the same time,
evidence is mounting everyday which supports the origins of creation as explained in the Bible.
We have the extraordinary proof of the so-called 'Hebrew Code' which was found in the Bible by computer scientists, and of which even atheists concede that these things could not have been written in there by man.
We now have the so-called, 'Yeshua
Codes' showing that Jesus is mentioned throughout the Old Testament, beginning in the Book of Genesis.
We have the proof of Bible prophecy, written in plain text, without a code. Bible prophecy itself proves that the Bible is the Divine Inspiration of the Word of God. The Bible is different from all other 'religious' books, in that none of the foundational books of any other religion attempt to predict future events with accuracy.
When then Bible was written it was about 25% prophecy, and hundreds of Bible prophecies have been fulfilled in precise, exacting, detail.
Consider just the fulfilled prophecies concerning Jesus: 333 prophecies, with 456 speific events precisely fulfilled, accurately as recorded.
The Bible gives several prophecies, thousands of years in advance, where we are instructed to count the number of days to find the dates of future events which are to be a sign to that generation that they are entering into what are known as 'the end times'.
Working out of what was recorded from God by the prophet Ezekiel in Ezekiel chapter 4, scholars have discovered that God gave the exact date for the re-birth of Israel as a nation: May 14, 1948.
Working from Daniel chapter 9, as Jesus instructed us to do as recorded in Matthew chapter 24, scholars have discovered that God had given the exact day, June 7, 1967, when Jerusalem would once again belong to the Jewish people. (On this date it was captured by the Israeli army in the Six Day War.)
Consider the astounding prophecies in Isaiah chapter 35 which tell us that just before the Messiah comes to establish the Kingdom of God upon the earth that the Arabah desert in Israel will sprout forth a pool of water, and that streams of water will spring up out of the ground and the desert will become green with growing.
Remarkably we've seen this prophecy fulfilled in the last few years, with a resevoir of water being found under the desert which is 20 times larger than all of the rest of the water sources in Israel!
What's more, it's not rain water, but geologists say that it's water which has remained trapped beneath the desert since the foundation of the world.
Today, with all of the proofs that God has given us, with the great volume of evidence that we have that God's Word can be taken and interpreted literally, that if you still doubt the word of God, if you aren't a fundamentalist regarding God's word- then you are not a realist.
You are denying reality and living in a fantasy world if you can't see that the Bible is truly the Divinely inspired Word of God.
Jesus says,
"If you continue in My Word,
then you are My disciples indeed;
and you shall know the truth,
and the truth shall make you free."
(John 8:31-32)
~
"So then faith comes by
hearing,
and hearing by the Word of God."
(Romans 10:17)
~
"And with all your
getting,
get understanding."
(Proverbs
4:7)
A disciple of Christ is one who disciplines himself or herself daily in the teachings of the Lord for the purpose of growing faith and glorifying God.
It is up to each individual believer to listen, hear, and read the Word of God, to gain understanding, and to question any unclarity. If anything is found to be in error, that is, not supported by Scripture, your correction is required by the Word of God according to
2 Timothy 3:16 and gratefully appreciated.
No matter how many times you have been told by others about what is in the Bible, take the time to verify for yourself. Arm yourself with the Truth, the correct Word of God. It's YOUR responsibility.
Your goal as a believer is to be a DISCIPLE OF CHRIST.
