This has been written to urge you to examine your relationship with God and your response to His Word, which is Truth.
No one can tell a Christian not to celebrate or participate in Halloween.After all, what's wrong with children who just want to have some harmless fun playing dress-up, showing their costumes off and gathering some candy along the way? It all depends on how you look at it and how you celebrate it.
It doesn't matter that today's Halloween customs have their origins in the ritual occult ceremonies of druids, witches and satanists who contracted demons in order to gain supernatural powers for spell casting, divination, hexes, curses, etc. That's ancient history!
It doesn't matter that "Trick or Treat" was started by druids going door to door
seeking victims for ritual sacrifice, often babies, to their god Baal. We go door to door to collect candy and show off our costumes.
It doesn't matter because we are sophisticated enough to treat Halloween as a fun season where no childhood is complete without it.
No one can tell a Christian not to celebrate or participate in Halloween, except God. Since, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God.", (2 Timothy 3:16) then, "Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them." (Ephesians 5:11) This is the Word of God, not Christian extremism.
The true horror of Halloween is not that Christians have anything to fear from carved pumpkins and flying witches but that we allow fear a greater role in our lives than faith. "Without faith it is impossible to please God." (Hebrews 11:6)
The true horror of Halloween is not ghosts and goblins, death and darkness, or fear and evil, not even satan or his demons, but the true horror is what we allow satan to do in our lives because we let him in by embracing Halloween and all it's history. "None (satan) can enter into a strong man's house (your house) and spoil his goods (your goods), except he (satan) will first bind the strong man (YOU); then he will spoil his house." (Mark 3:27) One of the ways that satan binds you and holds you in bondage is with Halloween:
By permitting symbols of death and darkness to dominate our culture we desensitize our children to actual evil. It has been proven that desensitization leads children to grow up without any abhorrence of evil and its demonic origins which political correctness has described as a 'healthy appetite for horror'.
By minimizing satan's devices by failing to avoid the appearance of evil we give credence to the occult. Our children must understand that every aspect of the occult must be avoided totally and never considered a harmless pursuit of curiosity.
By legitimizing the agents of evil through ghost and goblin displays lends credibility that spooks are friendly when they are not. Depicting satan as a red suited devil reduces his depravity to the level of a cartoon character.
The true horror of Halloween is the Christian resignation of satan's control in our culture. Even though satan,
"Is the god of this world." (2 Corinthians 4:4),
he can only control what we as the, "Salt of the earth" (Matthew 5:13) will allow.
The true horror of Halloween is that it is celebrated in schools as the Halloween Season. Teachers play spooky records with the lights out, encouraging a connection with the occult inciting fear, yet the Bible or Christian witnessing in the classroom is forbidden. Wow, what a double standard!
Have you noticed how much more sinister Halloween is becoming? The cuteness of decades past has been replaced with evil-faced pumpkins, skeletons, witches, and costumes glorifying serial killers, bloody guts, decapitations, dismemberment's, etc.
Have you noticed that newborns are being dressed as bloodied vampires and toddler sized ax murderers brandish plastic weapons saying, "Gimme a treat or I'll spill your guts!"?
Have you noticed that Halloween, since it's first attempted humorous glorification of blood on the hit TV SitCom, 'Roseanne', has gone from simple costume parties to the gruesome and grotesque widely depicted and accepted on family programming? Why else do families get ideas which lead them to depict suicidal hangings, decapitations, and grisly scenes of gore on their front porches and lawns in celebration of Halloween? What has this got to do with harmless fun? Is this creativity or depravity?
Don't you think that Halloween has gone too far for all ages? Don't cop out by saying, This attitude also says that my TV has an OFF switch for tuning out offensive programming. But it is MY child that has to walk through the neighborhoods of those who leave their TV sets ON and whose children feed their minds with horror and violence. It is MY child who goes to school with children who want to celebrate a bloody Halloween.
Children who read occult books and watch occult shows geared toward them like the very popular 'Goosebumps', may be future horror headlines in your neighborhood. The next time you watch the news and are horrified at 8 and 10 year old child murderers, realize that allowing diabolical rituals like Halloween into your home contributes to this depravity.
If children believe that gruesome pretend is OK, the real thing may become their next step. Ann Landers reported that in a recent poll of 3rd
grade students, 80% expressed a desire to kill somebody to celebrate Halloween.
Now that you've read this far, remember Peter's warning, "It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs..." (2 Peter 2:21) God did NOT say: Thou shall give me 364 days but keep one for yourself to do with as you wish!
A brief History of Halloween. Most of Halloween's customs had their start in the pagan rituals associated with the Druidic nature religions that prevailed in early northern Europe. Sharing the druidic ideas of nature worship is
witchcraft, and today the practices of druidism along with various forms of nature worhsip and witchcraft are sweeping Europe and North America.
The Druids worshipped Baal, one of the most powerful of all the demon kings. The common denominator in the practice of druidism, witchcraft, sorcery, satanism and other 'Black Arts', is the practice of necromancy: making contact with the 'other side', be it spirit guides, ascended masters, dead souls, dark angels, etc. All of these terms refer to satan and his demons, the true source of occultic powers, done in the name of satan.
Witches, druids, sorcerers, satanists and other practitioners of 'The Craft' would assemble to invoke demon forces to empower their spell casting. They would offer themselves for demon possession in diabolical worship ceremonies involving ritual animal killing and human sacrifices.
Witchcraft, magic, Ouija boards, spell casting and
other forms of occult/psychic powers are really just an introduction into satanism. Making a distinction between 'White Magic' or
'White Witchraft' and 'Black Magic' is a deception as it all operates the same way under the same force: satan's demons are released to accomplish the task or to empower the person. This opens the door in the persons life to demon influences which are not easily removed, even a Christian's, as they draw the person ever deeper into darkness. Rewards offered to entice you into the occult are always temporary because satan doesn't play fair and is a poor loser.
While occultic rituals, ceremonies, and
procedures vary, the fact is that modern day witches, shamans, satanists, and other occultists commemorate Halloween night with the same fervent dedication to invoke demonic forces for personal power and 'enlightenment'. Halloween is a high holy day, and it is marked by animal mutilations, kidnapping, child abuse, sexual abuse, and even murder as they attempt to find favor with demons in their quest for power. Many cults poison Halloween candy offering the innocent child/victims as sacrifices to satan.
Now that we understand the origins of Halloween and the horriffic way it is used, by participating in Halloween, however innocent your motives, you are continuing in practices which have been consecrated to satan. Your rationalization by saying, "What could it hurt?" is what satanists are counting on. They need you to sanction them so that they can continue to glorify satan and give him as many converts and sacrifices as possible.
But my church participates in Halloween, I grew up with it, therefore it must be OK? You need to find a church that preaches and practices the Word of God and that doesn't rationalize those gray areas. "They
profess that they know God, but in works they deny Him being abominable, and disobedient." (Titus 1:1) We rationalize, "A little bit won't hurt me!"Only fools rationalize and satan is counting on it. "Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove your foot from evil." (Proverbs 4:27) Rationalizing involves evaluating the pros and cons of the right and left to find a new right so that you can live in a gray area that you hope God accepts, or perhaps think that God doesn't care as long as you are basically good. Continuously rationalizing inevitably leads you to always pushing the envelope of what you think God will accept until you come to the point when you don't care one way or the other what God thinks. "He that walks [as a companion] with the wise [those who show sound judgment] shall be wise [learn sound judgment]: but a companion of fools [those who do not know God] shall be destroyed." (Proverbs 13:20) It's obvious again, the more you companion [associate] with the devil and his dominion, the more you'll act like him: evil. By seeing filth, hearing filth and speaking filth, you will eventually do filth, which leads to your ultimate destruction.
Do you think that on judgment day Jesus will accept your excuse, "But my church said it was OK!" Jesus said, "Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord' and do not the things which say?... Not everyone that says unto Me, 'Lord, Lord', shall enter into the kingdom of
heaven; but he that does the will of My Father... No man can serve two masters... You cannot serve both God and Mammon... He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters." (Luke 6:46, Matthew 7:21; 6:24; 12:30) The choice IS between good and evil, there IS no in between. Exercising your free will dictates where you will spend eternity. "He that says 'I know Him', and keeps not His commandments is a liar and the truth is not in him." (1 John 2:4) You deceive yourself if you think that you can be a Christian and partake in the festivals of satan. "You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part of both the Lord's table and the table of demons." (1 Corinthians 10:20)
But Halloween is so much fun, is there anything else I can do to offset this for my kids? Yes. Many churches include costume fantasy in 'fall festival' or 'harvest'
celebrations. Many parent groups organize costume parties for their children without the Halloween theme. But the challenge is not how you join them or go alongside them or go around them, but how you beat them. Turn Happy Halloween into a celebration of God the Father by glorifying God the entire month of October from Creation to Revelation. Bring in a harvest by using October 31st as a day to witness about Jesus because children and parents come to you. Do non-scary dress-up and give out salvation tracts and small toys or trinkets stamped with, 'God Loves You'. Make copies of this webpage to give to parents and share with them that celebrating God is the best way to fight satan and his influence. Does this mean that a Christian who participates in Halloween
is a hypocrite? Yes, and you have Jesus' Word on it, "You
hypocrites! You draw near Me with your mouths and honor Me with your lips, but your hearts are far away from me. In vain you worship Me, for you teach as doctrines the commandments of men." (Matthew 15:7-9) In other words, you read the Bible to get to know Me, you sing praises to Me, but you don't love Me as much as you say you do. Empty is your worship because you hold man's laws, holidays and customs above God's righteous law and commandments. Jesus continues, "You serpents! You generation of vipers! How can you escape the damnation of hell?" (Matthew 23:33)

If you are Christian, rededicate yourself to the Lord, "Come out from among them and be separate, says the LORD. Touch no unclean thing and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty." (2 Corinthians 6:17-18)
If you are not Christian, then read what the Lord Jesus Christ says about you, "Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels. You belong to your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. You must be born again." (Matthew 25:41; John 8:44, 3:7)Peter said of the unsaved, "As natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, [who] speak evil of the things that you understand not; and [you] shall utterly perish in your own corruption." (2 Peter 2:12)
IT IS GOD'S WILL THAT NONE SHOULD PERISH! But many will. Don't be one of the many, but become a 'whosoever believer' as in when Jesus said, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent His Son into the world not to condemn the world; but that the world though Him might be saved. I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man comes to the Father but by me." (John 3:16-17, 14:6)
